My Journey into Reflexology
Health and wellness have always been my passion. At my core, I’m a healer—I love helping people feel better. Though I earned my Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, my career initially took me down a different path. I worked in banking and later became a mortgage lender, thriving in a fast-paced environment, yet deep down, I knew it wasn’t my true calling.

A few years ago, I discovered The Root Cause Protocol and became a certified consultant, working with clients on the side while still in the mortgage industry. Witnessing the transformations in my clients and myself was incredible. However, I found myself repeatedly referring people out for energy work as the first step in their healing process.
That’s when I turned to reflexology. I had personally experienced its benefits and recognized its potential to enhance my ability to help others. I enrolled in an accredited program covering foot, hand, face, and ear reflexology.
Practicing reflexology has been an incredibly rewarding journey—watching people relax, reset, and heal is a gift I cherish.
Reflexology is a holistic healing practice that applies targeted pressure to reflex points on the feet, hands, face, and ears. These points correspond to every system, organ, and gland in the body, accessed through the nervous system. Each session promotes deep relaxation, relieves tension, calms the mind, and restores balance to the body and spirit.
Some of the most common feedback I receive from clients includes:
“That was an out-of-body experience.”
“My whole body completely relaxed—I melted into the table.”
“My senses seem sharper afterward.”
“My face looks brighter and more toned.”
“I can feel my body detoxing.”
“I have way more energy.”
“My back and hip pain is almost gone.”
Helping people experience these transformations through reflexology has deepened my commitment to holistic wellness.

Discovering Jiu-Jitsu
My journey into Jiu-Jitsu began unexpectedly. My kids started training at SBG about four years ago, and at first, we were only there a couple of times a week. As their interest grew, we found ourselves at the gym more often. I never considered training myself until a fellow mom (now my best friend) encouraged me to join.
The turning point came when the gym hosted a self-defense seminar. Attending the event earned me a few free Jiu-Jitsu classes, and after just one session, I was hooked.
While I’ve always been passionate about fitness, Jiu-Jitsu challenged me in a completely new way. It engaged muscles I didn’t even realize I had and forced me to think strategically in real time. Beyond the physical benefits, it built my mental toughness, self-confidence, and resilience. Plus, there’s something incredibly empowering about knowing I can hold my own—even against grown men!
One of the best aspects of Jiu-Jitsu is the community. The people at SBG are like family—supportive, loyal, and genuinely invested in each other’s success. It’s more than just a place to train; it’s a place to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally.

The Intersection of Reflexology and Jiu-Jitsu
Jiu-Jitsu is an intense, full-body practice that challenges both the mind and body. It builds strength, endurance, and resilience, but it also places stress on the body—tight muscles, joint strain, and nervous system fatigue are common. This is where reflexology serves as a powerful recovery tool.

How Reflexology Benefits Jiu-Jitsu Practitioners:
Faster Muscle Recovery – Reflexology increases circulation and lymphatic drainage, reducing inflammation and helping flush out metabolic waste for faster muscle repair.
Deep Relaxation & Nervous System Reset – Jiu-Jitsu is as mentally demanding as it is physical. Reflexology activates the parasympathetic nervous system (the “rest and digest” state), promoting deep relaxation, better sleep, and mental clarity.
Injury Prevention & Mobility – By addressing imbalances and releasing tension, reflexology improves mobility and flexibility, reducing the risk of strains and injuries.
Pain Relief & Joint Support – Reflexology can alleviate common Jiu-Jitsu-related pain, including sore wrists, tight hips, neck stiffness, and lower back discomfort.
Energy & Performance Boost – Many athletes report feeling re-energized and more mentally focused after reflexology sessions, helping them train harder and perform better.

Jiu-Jitsu pushes the body to its limits, while reflexology restores and rebalances it. Integrating reflexology into a Jiu-Jitsu wellness routine allows practitioners to train harder, recover faster, and maintain long-term health and resilience.
Jiu-Jitsu and Overall Well-Being
Many people see Jiu-Jitsu as just a self-defense technique or competitive sport, but it’s far more than that—it enhances overall well-being on multiple levels.
How Jiu-Jitsu Benefits Mental and Physical Health:
Physical Strength & Mobility – Jiu-Jitsu engages muscles dynamically, building functional strength, flexibility, and coordination.
Mental Resilience & Problem-Solving – Every roll on the mat is like a high-speed chess match, sharpening focus, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
Stress Relief & Emotional Well-Being – The intense physical activity helps release built-up tension, while the mental engagement provides a mindful escape from daily stressors.
Confidence & Self-Empowerment – Learning self-defense builds a deep sense of confidence that extends into daily life, influencing decision-making and assertiveness.
Community & Support System – Training partners form a strong, encouraging community that motivates and holds each other accountable.

Creating a Welcoming Environment for Women
Jiu-Jitsu can be intimidating at first, especially for women who are new to martial arts. That’s why fostering a welcoming and supportive environment at SBG is a top priority.
How We Make Jiu-Jitsu More Accessible for Women:
Building a Supportive Community – We introduce new students to friendly training partners, especially other women, to create an immediate sense of belonging.
Encouraging a Safe & Respectful Training Space – Respect is a core value in Jiu-Jitsu, ensuring that all students feel comfortable, safe, and empowered.
Focusing on Self-Empowerment & Confidence – Jiu-Jitsu teaches women not just self-defense but also mental resilience and confidence that extends beyond the gym.
Offering Women’s-Only & Beginner-Friendly Classes – Dedicated sessions help new students ease into training in a pressure-free, supportive environment.
Leading by Example – Seeing other women thrive in Jiu-Jitsu encourages newcomers and reinforces that they belong.
Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone. By fostering a culture of respect, encouragement, and empowerment, we ensure that women feel welcome, valued, and capable of thriving in this incredible sport.

Jiu-Jitsu and Body Awareness
Jiu-Jitsu builds a deep connection between mind and body, enhancing movement, balance, and strength in ways that translate directly to daily life.
Mobility & Joint Health – Training improves flexibility and reduces stiffness, making everyday movements easier.
Balance & Coordination – Jiu-Jitsu strengthens stabilizing muscles, improving posture and reducing injury risks.
Functional Strength & Injury Prevention – It builds core strength, reducing common issues like back pain and poor posture.
Mind-Body Awareness & Stress Relief – Training fosters mindfulness, helping practitioners recognize tension and move efficiently.
Breath Control & Endurance – Learning to control breathing enhances lung capacity, circulation, and overall energy levels.

Jiu-Jitsu isn’t just a sport—it’s a way to train the body and mind for optimal function and longevity.
By integrating reflexology, Jiu-Jitsu, and holistic wellness practices, we can cultivate a stronger, healthier, and more balanced life—on and off the mats.
